Gianluca Imperato was born in Palermo (Italy) in november 1981, has started his musical education at the V.Bellini Conservatory of Palermo and progressed to study in Rome with Giuseppe La Licata.In 2006, as external candidate, he gained a degree in San Pietro a Majella Conservatory(Naples) with the best votation and special mention. From 2007 to 2009 he continued to study in Hannover with professor M.Raekallio and subsequently under prof.B.Petrushansky in Bologna. In 2013 he has completed postgraduate piano studies at F.Chopin Music University in Warsaw in the class of Alicja Paleta-Bugaj and from 2010 on has been studying under prof. R.Plano at the “Accademia musicale Varesina”. G.Imperato has also partecipated the masterclasses with P.Gililov, B.Goetzke, K.H.Kammerling,M.Marvulli, V.Balzani,K.Popowa-Zydron. Gianluca Imperato has been performing at some of the European bestknown institutions, including the “Società dei concerti”(Milano),Chopin Society (Warsaw),Ravello Concert Society,Fondazione Santa Cecilia di Portogruaro,as well as at some important concert halls and auditoria such as “Chopin Hall”, “Palac na wyspie”,Lazienki Park(Warsaw),Conservatory G.Verdi (Milano), Ratusz Miejski of Gdansk (Poland), Palazzo delle stelline (Milano),Teatro Jofre de Ferrol (Spain). He has been a winner of numerous prizes at many international competitions, including Thalberg Piano Competition (2014,Naples), Rospigliosi Piano Competition (I prize, 2015),Premio Pianistico “Le Muse”(Naples, 2014),Caraglio Piano Competition (I prize, 2013),Viterbo Piano Competition (I prize , 2015), Accademia Musicale Romana (I prize, 2014), Amigdala Piano Competition (I prize, 2014),Pedara Piano Competition (I prize, 2014) ,”Note sul mare” Piano Competition (I prize, 2014),Premio Pianistico Taranto (I prize, 2014),Citta di Madesimo (I prize, 2013),Concorso Europeo “Citta di Siracusa” (I prize, 2015) as well as a special prize for a contemporary music ensemble at the Cracow International Contemporary Music Festival(2011). Gianluca Imperato has been awarded several scholarships, among which is G.Solti Foundation grant (2012) as well as the one offered by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is particularly committed to performing the music of lesser-known composers especially of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as well as contemporary music.
